Nothing bad. Well, I mean she hadn't done anything bad. But in the rush to get to her line after morning break? She fell headfirst down the hill and because the school is over 100 years old they have no green space. So the hill is concrete. Ow. And the office ladies and first aider - who it has to be said know the Chook quite well on account of her general inherited clumsiness - thought her left knee in particular needed some medical attention. Cue the call to Mum's work, Mum dropping everything (including a half-eaten bag of crisps!) and a visit to the nurse at the local health centre. And 2 bandages.
They're not as bad as they look here but that left one is a stoater. No stitches coz that would involve having some skin left to stitch! There's a giant crater under that left knee so it's been plastered with a gel that's supposed to draw out the grit and we go back on Friday to let the nurse have a look and get a new dressing. In the meantime we've not to get it wet. Ack!
Not that it was bothering her! And I quote "this is the best day EVER!" coz she got a half day off school, a new toy (dratted Zhu-Zhu hamsters!) and control of the telly doofer. Harumph. Of course, it's started to hurt now. Not such a brilliant day after all, eh, Chook? Trousers tomorrow, methinks.
OUCH!!
ReplyDeleteHope she mends well...it'll be loose clothing for awhile!
ReplyDeleteOwwwy. That's 2 impressive bandages to show her friends. Hope she's all fixed soon!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that's gotta hurt! Hope she heals quickly!
ReplyDeleteRule number one: wait till you are in the Princes Gardens with a nice grassy slope before rolling down head first! :-)
ReplyDeletePoor Chookie... when rule number one fails... rule number two applies (which is.. be brave!)
So glad you have a hamstermethingie to keep you company! Hope it heals soon xxxxxx
Goodness Chook...that's not the way to get attention!! Oh my knees hurt just looking at the bandaids!
ReplyDeleteOur nephew had huge craters on his knees this summer from falling on the asphalt too....knees were stiff for a long time since he had to be careful about bending and not messing up the scabs.
Here's a great big virtual *HUG*...for the brave girlie!;)
xoxo
Oh...forgot to tell you that Maria did the same thing when she was 5...ran to get her place in line and fell...but she broke her arm!;o
ReplyDeleteI did just this as a kid (actually was holding on to the back of a friend's bike while on roller skates when my feet came out from under me. She dragged me a ays before realizing. And now I am wondering why I didn't let go!?!). The best thing -- lots of sweets and time propped on the couch with mindless television!
ReplyDeleteOoooouch! You left crisps? LOL Poor Chook, hope the visit on Friday goes well, and it's a quick recovery.
ReplyDeleteI hope she's all healed up by now, poor little punkin! That looks painful.
ReplyDeleteI did a number like that once on my bike, riding no-hands, going down a hill and turning a corner (still no-hands, I had skills, or so I thought!) and losing it when I hit a patch of gravel. Wiiiiipe Out! Knees and palms of both hands, still have the scars and it's been a good 40 years. OK, longer, shut up! lol
