You might remember when I made the vintage sewing ladies Sew Together bag last week Chook announced one would be perfect for her school stuff. Her pencil case has given up the ghost so time was of the essence!
I even had enough zips and let her pick her fabrics herself - I knew the long hoarded Melody Miller mustangs would get used for something one day! This is my third white bodied Sew Together!
She had a sleepover here on Friday night so I had ample time to get most of it sewn up. You know, with all the not sleeping. A little hand stitching of the binding on Sunday and we were done. I'm rather fond of it!
Her bright interior fabrics all take their queue from the "favourite things" print on the outside lining parts. It's quirky with paintbrushes, aeroplanes and octopuses. Very her!
And yet more brights for the pocket linings. It's such a huge bag it takes almost all her stuff.
The only thing that didn't fit was her big giraffe pencil sharpener which got its own Heather Ross drawstring pouch. More Mustang was too "matchy matchy" apparently. *g* Of course, we've had requests from 3 friends for one each - one even asked how much it would be to make her one! Bless her. They really don't realise the time that goes into them (3 days is "not that long" apparently!!) and needless to say I'm not rushing into over-production. Chook can revel in being the sole owner of one for the time being at least.
So that's my must-makes finished, I think. And I'm a wee bit fired up to maybe quilt the Critters Churndash. Shocking, I know. But first I have another step onwards on my #commitin2015 self improvement crusade. Yes, I am about to embark upon regular exercise. Yikes. I shall report back once I know I've not collapsed...
It's official. Chook is the coolest kid on the block with those bags. Her mama is pretty awesome too.
ReplyDeleteCute bags- I totally agree with the match matchy thing, I get self-conscious if I match...
ReplyDeleteThree to make for now, and then the rest of the class gets in in the action!
ReplyDeletelove the mustang, so how did you subtley say "no way" to the three more resquest?!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Sarah....let Chook's remain unique!:)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes...not matching gave her another awesome horse...ahem...unicorn!:)
Loving the not too matchy matchy set. In fact that little HR bag for the pencil sharpener is spot on!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter has the best mom! Those are both beautiful bags.
ReplyDeleteCool pensil case! Isn't it nice if they tell you what they wish for their birthdays so you can already get sorted for the upcomming parties? It is lovely and I am pretty sure mine would want to have one too ... so better close the window before they come home from school!
ReplyDeleteLove the mustangs. Good luck with the exercise. I've just threaded my needles, pilates style and jeez I could do with a lie down. But I'm at work so had a bounty bar instead #balance
ReplyDeleteLovely bags - especially the mustangs. I really must have a go at making the sew together bag. I wished you lived a bit closer and we could help each other with the exercise programme. Min'es nt got off the ground yet!!!
ReplyDeleteYes I can imagine everyone wanting one - perhaps you should supply the pattern to the school and let someone teach them all to sew ;)
ReplyDeleteChook has such great taste!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I surely can't be the only one who wants to see the giraffe pencil sharpener?!
