So. This is the entirety of my sewing last month. And that was just last week! At least it's halfway substantial, though, aye?
I should have a bit more time this month, though since as of today we are no longer pony parents. I'm surprisingly sad about it but it really was too much for my wee Chook, she was absolutely knackered all the time. We planned to keep loaning for the next few weeks (there's a big local show coming up that she wanted to attend) but circumstances have meant it's a better time to finish up now. She's changed her mind about the show, too. I did get one last lovely photo of her and Skye on our last hack on Thursday. I didn't know it was our last one when I took it!

Chookie's surprisingly upbeat about the whole thing. I think it was a bit of a relief to have someone suggest it was too much for her. And it's not the end of her riding as lessons will continue. And we can try a loan again when she's a bit older - even next year. So we have free time again, what a luxury!! And my car may stop looking (and smelling! ) like a stall. *g* Sometimes successful parenting is knowing when to say no, innit?
So good to know she has the maturity to accept it, and, yes she can always have another go another year! She does look at home on that pony though!
ReplyDeleteMy daughters leased a horse for about 4 years, but the advantage was the school bus dropped them off and I only had to pick them up. Way too many hours and one broken arm later (not the horse's fault), we decide that the time had come to tell the owner and our dear friend we had to quit leasing.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it hasn't worked out but it did seem a lot of work from your previous posts. My niece doesn't ride at all. I asked her if she misses it just last week and she said no.
ReplyDeleteYeah for good parenting!:) Proud of the Chook and you and Mr. A too.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is great...even Skye knew to look in the right direction!:)
I'm glad you and she have found the right balance. It is suppose to be fun. Your quilt is going to be really lovely.
ReplyDeleteShame things got to much with the horse, but lessons learnt are invaluable. Just think you could have invested in a horse just for you and found out the pitfalls at a later date and it could have cost you plenty. Life is for enjoying along with hobbies, they should never become a burden.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got that shot and that the lessons will continue. She can try again later.
ReplyDeleteGlad she's still getting the lessons, but yes, sometimes one just has to take stock and work out when enough's enough!
ReplyDeleteBetter to have tried... and all that - I'm sure her time will come round again soon enough xxx
ReplyDeleteAt least you tried the horse renting thing and she knows what's involved if she ever goes back to it. Love your Churn Dash blocks!
