A hurried visit from me - just keeping the archives! Chook's sports day was on Thursday and they made it at first attempt! Woot! They were thwarted on both dates last year so there wasn't a sports day at all. *sad face* So they've held it early this year so that they can have three attempts at it and the first one was the one! The sun even shone although it was absolutely Baltic cold - Chook tells me a whole 6 degrees! It had a different layout as well. Instead of just lots of races, they had stations with different sports (cricket, rugby, basketball, football, tennis) and 3 minutes at each station to get as many points as possible for their house. It seemed to work really well, the kids weren't standing about waiting for races to start and lots of sports were represented, not just track. Although it wasn't as much fun for the spectators.
They DID have an obstacle race (which Chook won again ) and an 800m (in which she was second) and a tug of war so there was still some cheering. And the same house won for the ninth year in a row. Which is a bit of a bummer for all the other kids. But them's the breaks!
We're off to see "Oz: the Great and Powerful" at the Vue for £1.75 each. Gotta love the Kids AM weekend special! Have a lovely Sunday!
What- no rigging the result ( or awarding bonus points for good behaviour!) so another team might win??! Congrats to Chook- she's a star!
ReplyDeleteWell done Chook!
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough I never minded being in the winning house year on year, I take it Chook wasn't? ;o) Still, well done to her for her achievements!
ReplyDeleteWould you look at those little cold knees??!!!! Glad her sports day was good, ours was cancelled this week due to gale force winds! x
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like fun, but like you say, a bit nippy!
ReplyDeleteYou are a tough lot north of the border, it sounds a bit chilly to me! Well done Chookie. Di x
ReplyDeleteI bet the teachers weren't sad when sports day couldn't go ahead last year but I bet the school secretary is glad it did this year - no more days of being inundated by 'Is it sports day today?' phone calls...
ReplyDeleteI have 2 sports days to endure this year - oh joy (sometimes we need rain, right!?) xx
