A couple of years ago while buying new hammocks for our sadly missed wee rats, the rat-hammock-maker pointed me in the direction of her friend's wee handmade meeces. Michelle from Podthiki Goblins makes the most adorable sock goblins, meece and owls and I have long been a Facebook follower of hers. I bought a blue stripey meece back then - he currently resides in a white wooden storm lantern in my living room. Well on occassion she also has the most wonderful artwork for sale and a few weeks ago was showing her newest completed work. I had some money from a certain old lady burning a hole in my pocket (of course, none other than Beloved Wee Granny) and when I saw Michelle's subject matter my only question was "is this for sale?!?"
Yes, it is a stitchy witch's shelf!! Us grandchildren have long since suspected Granny of being a bit spooky (in the nicest, benignest magical way) so really, with the stitching and rodents this was a no-brainer for me. I confess, I was unprepared for the quality of Michelle's artistry!
It really is the prettiest, most detailed picture. It's not small, either, about 21 x 12in with its mount.
I'm not sure where to put it. On the landing when I finally finish painting it, maybe. It needs to have its wee meece sitting nearby so just hanging on a wall won't do. And I want to be able to see it nice and clearly. Not a bad problem to have though, eh?
aaaahhhhh would you look at those mice checking themselves out in the picture!!! This picture is genious - and spot on for you. (P.S I think there is a steampunk revival going on!) x
ReplyDeleteAww, love it! I do love fabulous, unconventional art (just ask Laura what I brought back from the US lol) BTW, saw some moulds for some steam punk buttons and stuff today and thought of you...

ReplyDeleteSome things are just meant to be! Enjoy your placement problem xxx
ReplyDeleteLove that you have the meece that match the picture. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteSadly I have the real, not so cute, kind running amock in my house at the mo! Jxo
ReplyDeleteit is gorgeous and those wee mice too! love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely artwork, looks awesome that you have the matchin meeses too :-)
ReplyDeleteAck! She captured my tummy rolls perfectly!:) Haha!
ReplyDeleteMe thinks Spouse needs to make you a lovely little shelf made from some stock molding so you can hang that and perch print and meeces together!
Wonderful choice! I'm resisting going to have a look at her website...so far!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your art work. You definitely need a place where you can enjoy all the great detailing. Will have to go browse the website. Although no mice here. I have a phobic mother. She struggles watching Mickey Mouse or Tom and Jerry because of her phobia. :-)
ReplyDeleteTHAT IS SO AWESOME! What a cool idea. I'm off to learn more ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful painting, and the matching meece! gorgeous!
