I'm linking up with Lynne's Fresh Sewing Day. Although I am cheating and including some non-sewn but still made-by-me stuff!

I actually did better than I thought. Two items here are for Christmas, do you see the Granny fabrics on the bottom middle row? They're for my Granny and Papa, it's a .......a.......... actually, I dunno what it's called. It's a suite protector set. A head screen thingie to protect their new armchairs from Papa's Brillcremed hair! Well, two, actually, one for each chair (although I still need to handsew the binding on one). And four arm covers to match - that's Granny's at the front with the pocket for the telly remote. She has ALL the power on that front!
I've snuck in my scrapbook page and Chookie's scooter coz they ate a fair whack of sewing time. I wouldn't expect too much next month, either, I'm about to embark on the Christmas gift double bed quilt! Yikes!!

ReplyDeleteIt is so nice you can sew for your grandparents!
ReplyDeleteLoving the granny makes!
ReplyDeleteI believe anti-macassars is the word you're looking for! Lovely makes, that little pouch is so cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat makes! It's kind of weird that Rachels just mentioned Anti Macassars because I've just started reading the tome that is The Crimson Petal and White and it's mentioned men with Macassar oil in their hair. And I in bed this morning reading and thought oh I know chair protectors are called anti macassars because of mens oily hair but I didn't know the name came from the name of the oil. Then first blog post I read Rachel mentions it too!
ReplyDeleteYay for completions, and I know exactly what those covers are for, both my gran and granny used to have them, but since my papa and grandad died, they've disappeared ;o)
ReplyDeleteyou had a super productive month! and brillcreme, i haven't known many people who know what that is! my stepdad used that stuff! oh, it warms my heart!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea what the suite protectors were - thanks for clearing up the mystery! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove the Granny/Papa makes - they're going to love them, especially Granny's power pocket!
