This is the first of the 2 expectant-Dad gifts I've been making for the optometrists at work. The pattern for this wee quiltie comes from Sew, Mama, Sew! but is actually designed by Elizabeth Hartman of Oh, Fransson! It's her charm squares baby quilt and is a joy and a doddle to make up. Not to mention quick and therefore incredibly gratifying! I'm quite chuffed how this has turned out.
The backing is more of the Just Wing It! range - baby is of unknown gender but has a green nursery so I colour co-ordinated. Binding is Nicey Jane (again! it was perfect on the baby skull quilt, too!) and I stippled all over. The green here is a much lighter, spring green but the weather is terrible here currently (and shows no signs of improving) so I've had to take some pics while I can!
All labeled and wrapped up. Washing instructions on the tag will - I hope - make it more likely to get some use. I pointed out it makes a great floor quilt!
When I left work today the optom's wife was having contractions 9 minutes apart (her due date was yesterday) so hopefully she won't be labouring for too much longer!
the deets:
the pattern is the charm squares baby quilt found on Sew, Mama, Sew!
the fabrics are Momo's Just Wing It by Moda, kona white and Nicey Jane.
it measures 30 x 37in.
Great little quilt.
ReplyDeleteIts chucking it down here too - the river at the end of our street is out of its bank and ready to advance up the street, but it has just stopped raining so hopefully it won't get any further! Juliex
That's lovely, Lynz! You put me to shame - I'm about 6 months behind on baby gifts.
ReplyDeleteLovely baby gift! Jxo
ReplyDeleteGreat little quilt. You have given me toooo many ideas for this little one I need to make for Maria and Rose's friend. At least they have finally picked which fabric they want me to use!:)

ReplyDeleteThis quilt is so lovely Lynz! I was just thinking about you the other day when I went to the Christmas Goose. I always think about driving your sweet dad around getting stuff for you! :) I really love this pattern, I need to make one or three for some nieces and nephews getting married and having babies! Love your quilting!
ReplyDeleteLoving the quilt, Lynz. Have to check out the pattern now, am planning on doing some quilting once the girls sleep through the night. ;)
