Camp rock!

Well, okay, just camp. Not so much of the rock. But Scout Camp was awesome! I know, I know. Lynz and camping? In a tent? But it really was fabulous fun and my pack were so well behaved - we were so proud.

I can't show many photos because they all have other people's kids in (bummer) but I have a few of Chook so they will have to do.

First up, the camp entrance. This is looking OUT of camp into the surrounding countryside. Pretty, eh?

Me an' the Chook! Slightly strained looking - an eight year old was in charge of the camera and she was taking an absolute age to hit the shutter! I match my tent. Heh.

Part of the afternoon's planned activities on Saturday was a nature walk which took us past the reservoir. We were so lucky, the weather defied the forecasters and stayed very fine!

My girl, first over a six foot stile! One of the boys has vertigo and had to go back round the whole way we'd come, bless 'im.

And Chook making a quick, sneaky phone call to her Dad on Sunday morning. I'm standing by the first of our tents. I was thrilled by this point that despite dire warnings, none of us had any ticks latched on. *shudders*
So, there you go. Mention has been made of camping as a family in the summer so we shall see. We need a tent first! *g* Plus, Scouts plan another in August. I've not seen the last of my bad-hair-day-no-drying-facilities headband/bandana combo!

  1. The weather was great for you wasn't it. Looks like a great location. I'm sure the bad hair, wasn't too bad.

  2. I was wondering how you'd got on. It looks a great site, and as the reservoir ... So pretty. We have 4 nearby: two within half a mile, opposite directions from the house, but both are manmade, built UP, so we just see a bank of grass from 'outside', and a huge lake with concrete banks from the top :-(

  3. Never mind matching your tent, you match your daughter! Don't you too look so alike! (I'm sure I'll upset one of you by saying that - apols to whomever!)

  5. Well your hair looks great in that picture. Ha. You should see mine after a few days camping...it's pretty much the only time you'll see me wearing a hat on a regular basis. :)

  7. Yay! We love camping! Will definitely be up there for the whole weekend next year, with or without sprogs! Mine will be the tent of hostess-ness, I will have sweets, coffee, tea, biscuits and hot choc on tap... or will I just move around everybody else's mess tents and have theirs?

  11. Wish you were closer Wookie & I would be thrilled to hand on our camping gear to you :) For different reasons but hey we'd both be happy.

Don't suppose you fancy a trip south of the border?

Hi! I'll try really hard to reply to comments by email (unless you're a no-reply Blogger in which case I can't!) because I love getting your messages but I'm a working mum and don't always manage - I read and appreciate every single one!
