ticker tape madness.

A very good friend has her birthday today and I was stumped what to make her until I stumbled across this blog from Flekka Designs and her fantastic cushions. One in particular really spoke to me so I shamelessly copied it and Friday night was spent in a happy flurry of fabric squares and ironing.

I've never been happy with my straight line quilting but I think I cracked it with this one. The thread is Gutterman Sulky and I think it's thickness helps disguise the slight wobbles.

And in other madness? I'm making my ticker tape quilt in one piece and not in four smaller quadrants as advised.
I started quilting this morning. It's going to take a while. And some patience. And some drink. *le sigh*

  1. You hussy, copying ;-) It looks *fantastic* I'd copy it too. I might copy yours, later. Currently I've got two quilts to quilt and two tops in progress/ready to sandwich.

  2. Your straight line quilting looks good to me. Do you use a walking foot and does it come with an arm to help with spacing - I couldn't quilt straight without mine.

  3. The pillow looks great! I think I am going to have to steal....hmmmm...borrow that idea too!:)

No...I didn't advice it be done in 4 quadrants....it is just an options for those scared to do it big...but you aren't a scardicat are you?!:)

I think if you have confidence in your FMQ then doing it big is no problem!! I just don't have confidence in mine at the moment!!:)

    BTW...it looks great!!:)

  5. Oh my word that is just divine. I adore the colours you have used. You are absolutely right to be proud of that quilting too. Delish! I have a confession - I went to Dunelm the other day with the sole purpose of buying cushion pads. However, when I saw how cheap and gorgeous their covers were I caved & bought them. You have inspired me to DIY for the summer, though

  6. It's going to be fabulous! Are you FMQing or sewing round each piece? probably easier to FMQ if you are doing it all in one piece. Can't wait to see it all done!

Hi! I'll try really hard to reply to comments by email (unless you're a no-reply Blogger in which case I can't!) because I love getting your messages but I'm a working mum and don't always manage - I read and appreciate every single one!
