be prepared!

I'm not sure how it happened. Well, no, that's not true. I know exactly how it happened. I've been helping out at the Chook's Cub Scout Pack for about the last 6 weeks. It started with the making of the Fimo punkin keychains. And then I spent a couple of weeks keeping an eye on Miss Clumsy after the tooth disaster under the guise of helping out  (10 days til our next dental hospital visit - oh, joy) and then a few weeks just having fun and helping out. And now? Well, now I've started training to officially become an assistant Cub Scout Leader.

It's a LOT of work, y'know!! You want to see the modules I have to do, never mind the safety checks. But it does mean your kids are left with properly trained, safe adults which I think is a great thing. So the sewing will most certainly be taking a back seat over the next wee while. I'm ridiculously excited about the whole thing coz I've really been enjoying my time with the kids. And I get a cool name from the Jungle Book and a uniform with a woggle! Dyb, dyb, dyb!!

  1. Do you get to pick your name?! I'm just thinking that I wouldn't really want to be Sheere Khan but Bagheera is pretty cool!!

  2. I thought I'd get the kids to pick it (from a shortlist - I don't want to be SuperMario or anything!!) but there's a ton of names in the book that aren't in the Disney movie. Including a bat and a rat!!!

  4. Great Lynz! It's always such fun with kids, and I'm sure I'd be happy knowing you've done all the trainng and all the right checks have been done too! Now you need to get your thinking cap on to keep them crafty minded! (I used to do Brownies!)

  5. Suuuuuucccck.....that's you getting pulled in to big time volunteering and it won't stop....until the Chook is out of school!;)
Good for you Lynz...I say if your kid loves it that you are around helping then keep it up. Our kids loved that I was in school all the time helping out. My friends were always jealous at how the kids would give me a kiss good-bye in from of their peers!:)

I think Mang would be a great name....sort of like Ma and the gang!;)

  7. Good luck with the cub course Lynz! I wish Oliver was still in the cubs but we had a bit of an upset with them so he doesnt go anymore but as he is 10 next week I am hoping to convince him to go to Scouts - I love the whole Scouting idea! Love your jar on a few posts back - might have to make a couple of those for my sewing buddies - thanks for the inspiration!

Hi! I'll try really hard to reply to comments by email (unless you're a no-reply Blogger in which case I can't!) because I love getting your messages but I'm a working mum and don't always manage - I read and appreciate every single one!
