wonderland bunting

I wanted some birthday bunting for my new dresser and my Chookie and knew I wanted to use the Wonderland leftovers from the tablerunner but I couldn't find a tutorial using a charmpack. So I made it up as I went along (it's hardly rocket science now, is it?). I'm rather loving how it turned out!

(Ha! Do you see Indie in the background in the close up? I love that print.)
So, don't tell Chook but we're nearly there with the birthday prep. Just an 8ft trampoline to build tomorrow night!!!! That's a total surprise for her - we keep telling her the garden's not big enough (and it's not!) but can't resist buying her stuff she wants. That's one of the privileges of having an only child!!

say "Cheese"!!

Jo at Bearpaw lives pretty close to me and I've been saying for weeks and weeks that I'll visit her shop up in Edinburgh. I've not made it yet - you know how sometimes you just never seem to have a free weekend? That's where I'm at just now. So, I was delighted when she announced last week that she'd opened an Etsy shop. Chook and I popped in for a look (there was a bag I'd been coveting - I still am!) and she fell in love with the dearest little mouse in a teacup pincushion. So we bought him and he arrived today. With bells on! (I had originally written "with knobs on" there and thought maybe you'd question just what sort shop Jo owns!!)

He was beautifully packaged in his own wee mouse house (box) with snuggly shredded paper. There was the sweetest letter to Chook pegged to the side (she's reading it up there) and a wooden letter H (which is stuck on her bedroom door!)
Isn't he adorable? But, do you see his lunch he's brought with him? It's a chunk of cheese!!! Jo, talk about above and beyond! Thank you!! This got delivered to my work this morning and I squealed when I saw it! And all my co-workers (well, both of them) came running to see what cuteness I had been getting. He was well cuddled by those ladies, that mouse, I can tell ya! Not as much as this girl did, though.
Aaaaw! Now, he was supposed to be for my wee craft room but he's disappeared into her bedroom. Last I heard she was rummaging for every mouse she owned so they could have a party.

The quality of this wee chap is just stellar! Such teeny stitches and the finishing touches (like his label) are just amazing. Go shop with Jo, people, she has the coolest stuff in her shop AND she's quite lovely!

faux piped binding.

I stumbled across a fantastic new tutorial today. Trisha at TLC Stitches has put up the most comprehensive set of instructions and photos and I couldn't wait to have a go. I mean, I literally couldn't wait and in the half hour before tea and this evening I made this.

I received a charm pack of Moda's "Wonderland" in a swap from Lara at Easter and knew I wanted to make a new table runner with it - this was the push I needed. Isn't the piping cool!! My very favourite "pond" kona.
I'm a very happy girl. Mine's a bit wonky but y'know, a wash and tumble and (I hope) a blind man running for a bus won't notice it. Only problem was, the throw that normally lives on that chair (the 30's coins) was hideous with it! So I've looked out the only quilt I have that matches - my Christmas one! Well, it's a shame to just see it one month of the year, innit?

hexagon top

I finished my top today! It went together really nicely - almost all the points match up - I am stunned! Fabric is Moda L'Amour.

In other news, Chookie got soaked at her riding lesson today and the spouse and I celebrated out 11th wedding anniversary yesterday. And when I say celebrated? I mean we actually remembered it on the day it was happening (most unusual!) and said "happy anniversary" to each other. They are SO not a big deal round our way!

Chook's quilt top.

I finally got the borders on last night and photos taken this afternoon, although the wind proved somewhat playful!

Fabric is Sandi Henderson's "Ginger Blossom" and the pattern is Thimbleblossoms "Jelly Filled." I need a massive amount of batting now for all my half finished projects - I could wish it wasn't so expensive!!

bloody hell...

I've had 5 outgoing emails not arrive at their destinations in the last 10 days so I really NEED to think about changing my provider. Not my interweb, just my webmail. Any favourites to suggest? Or, indeed, anyone to avoid like the plague? I'm with Orange (although I'm still a Freeserve address - I've had it that long!) but have no affiliations to any of the big guns so all suggestions are happily received! Grrrr...
I've also been having a frustrating few hours changing the wallpaper here in the ol' blogaroo. You likie? It's perhaps the 6th total change around today (I've had some very pretty shabby victorian ones but they were hard to read!!) and I was starting to look like that woman above. So don't expect another change anytime son. Unless I get really bored at work again. Heh..

last day...

..of primary 3 yesterday!! That has been a really quick year.

Such a ham, ain't she? I don't know where she gets that tongue-sticking-out-at-the-camera from. Ahem.
